How much is Spotify Premium and is it worth it?

With more than 180 million users, Spotify is one of the most popular music streaming services in the world. If you’re already a free Spotify user, you’ve probably considered upgrading to Premium because the ads are annoying. But this decision is more important than you might think. To address this, in this article we’ll take a closer look at Spotify Free vs Premium to see if the latter is worth paying for.

Spotify Free vs Spotify Premium Plan

Even with a free Spotify account, you still have access to millions of artists, songs and albums.

You can stream while connected to the internet, but you can’t play songs on the go. You’re limited to six skips per hour, and after you’ve run out to play a specific song, you have to wait until the desired song appears in the playlist. Spotify is free and fully ad-supported, which means you have to listen to annoying ads on a regular basis.

With a premium plan, you can completely remove these restrictions. You can play music for hours without interruption, with unlimited skips and ad-free music! You can also choose to download music to stream Spotify playlists on the go.

Ultimately, there’s no way to say one plan is better than the other. We all consume music in different ways and have different priorities for what and how we spend on this leisure activity. If you’re still not sure, you can always go for the free trial.

How to Save Money on Your Music Streaming Subscriptions

If you decided to use Spotify Premium, you will need to spend at least $9.99 per month to continue using the subscription service.

If you find this difficult to accept, you can also choose other plans offered by Spotify.

The Premium Individual subscription. This costs $9.99 per month. You get all the perks like offline listening, Spotify radio, unlimited skips, and a personal playlist that lets you discover new music weekly.

Duo. The price of Duo plan is $12.99 per month. It allows you to share your Spotify Premium with another person who live under the same roof. You both have a separate Spotify account, so you can listen to music individually.

Family. This costs $15.99 per month. This allows you to share Spotify Premium with 2-6 people. You can filter out explicit music and let your kids play it safely using kid safety options or kid’s apps.

Student. College students can unlock all the premium features of a regular Spotify Premium subscription for $4.99 per month. You will need to use your university email address to verify your student status.
